Installation Instructions

To help you install your blinds/shades, each blind will arrive to you with detailed installation instructions enclosed. It is worth your time to spend a few minutes reviewing the enclosed instructions before you begin your installation. The instruction leaflet will explain the various mounting options you may encounter.

What you will need in order to install your blinds/shades:

  1. Tape measure to accurately position the brackets.
  2. Pencil to mark the placement of the screws.
  3. Screws. Select the screws based on the material you will be mounting them into e.g. wood, drywall, metal, concrete.
  4. Ladder.
  5. Level – if you are installing them outside the window frame, on the wall.
  6. Electric drill – if you are installing them into concrete, you will need a concrete drill bit.
  7. 2 screw drivers – you will need both a flat head and a Phillips head.

Brackets

Each style of blind/shade will require different types of brackets, unique to that style. Based on whether you requested “inside mount” or “outside mount” when you placed your order, the brackets will also be unique to that application as well and will arrive with the blind accordingly.

Spacer Blocks

Spacer blocks generally are used with an “outside mount” application to increase the projection and create clearance for a blind to hang in front of trim on a window or door. Each spacer block adds ½” clearance (or projection) from the mounting surface and can be used to a maximum total of 2 spacer blocks, stacked one in front of the other, to add a total of 1” of extra clearance. If you require more than 1” clearance in front of a trim, you would need to order your blind with extension brackets. Extension brackets are available in 1 ½” and 2” projections. Be sure to use screws that are long enough to go through the spacers and into a secure material behind the wall surface.

Hold Down Brackets

Typically “hold down brackets” are installed at the bottom of the blind to anchor the lower edge of the blind. This stops the blinds from swaying. These work very well on blinds/shades that are installed on doors as well as in motorhomes and R.V.’s
